This blog is about finding your comfort zone in grey areas. An oxymoron? You bet. I believe that if an idea does not initially make you slightly uncomfortable, you haven’t pushed the boundaries enough. As a Strategic Planner, it’s in this grey area where I am most comfortable, defining new spaces for brands in today’s complex integrated landscape.

For many years now, I have trained my brain for a career in Strategic Planning. A challenging primary degree in Economics has helped me develop a macro perspective and always search for reason; while exhilarating work experience at the best agencies worldwide has left me wanting for more. Lots more.

Currently a Strategic Planner at Young & Rubicam Singapore, I have had the opportunity to work on a range of exciting Singaporean, regional and global brands such as Resorts World, SMU, Cerebos, OCBC & M1. My unique role in the agency encompasses ideation on a brand & campaign level, developing consumer insights through qualitative and quantitative research methods and engaging in brand consultancy projects. I work closely with our clients to provide relevant and differentiated digital & integrated solutions, and my affinity for trendspotting wedded to my ability for analytical thinking has helped me stay ahead of the curve.

Shilpa has become a very valuable member of the team, in a very short space of time. She has shown a clear ability to lead digital consulting and planning assignments well beyond her level of experience. In addition, she is highly intelligent & a very quick learner.

Taru Jain, as Head of Digital & Integrated Marketing at Y&R Singapore

During my internship here in the summer of ‘08, I enhanced my analytical skills (Go Excel!) while working on Y&R’s revolutionary tools, Brand Asset Valuator & SEER. I gained an in-depth understanding of the telecom and tourism industries by working on brand development and research for M1 and Singapore Tourism Board.
